How Do You Maintain Dentures?
Handling Dentures
As you wear your removable dentures, be extra careful removing them from your mouth to avoid dropping them accidentally. There have been numerous cases where patients returned to the clinic with a damaged or broken dentures because they mishandled them.
To clean your dentures, place a folded towel at the bottom of the sink so that if it slips out of your hands, it won’t hit a hard surface break.
When handling your dentures, make sure you wash your hands with soap and water. Bacteria can easily be passed to your dentures if your hands are dirty.
Cleaning Your Dentures
Another thing to keep in mind is cleaning. To ensure that your dentures are stain and bacteria-free, you need to brush and rinse them regularly. Dirty dentures will not only look unsightly but will also cause bad breath.
When brushing your dentures, use a non-abrasive cream. Don’t use toothpaste because it will likely scratch it. Also, avoid using a toothbrush with stiff bristles, as these will likely harm them.
